The Clearing

Welcome! The Clearing is a meditative retreat center in a peaceful, natural forest setting located within an hour's drive of Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia. The Clearing is available to groups and individuals for meetings, retreats, family reunions, educational programs, workshops and youth events.

Since its inception in 1983, numerous groups and individuals from throughout Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic have benefited from this unique spiritual resource. We invite you to explore our website and hope that you might join us at the Clearing. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.

The Clearing is under the care of Richmond Friends Meeting with support from Midlothian Meeting and other Quaker organizations. The Clearing was a gift to future generations from Louise Whittington. In caring for the Clearing we work together for continued stewardship of our environment and as a ministry to the greater community.
